With these words, Dace had a renewed sense of ambition. He resolved to just concentrate, practice, and train, and to not let negative feelings hinder that by causing doubt within him. He understood the lesson his father was trying to teach him by refusing to help. Dace studied under his father for two more years after that, and eventually felt it was time for him to travel to Ossus to continue his studies at the Jedi training center. There he studied under the great Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas. Eventually, Dace was chosen as a member of a task force, which included Nomi Sunrider, Qrrl Toq, Kith Kark, Shoaneb Culu, and himself, sent to Onderon to confront the growing evil that had permeated Onderon for centuries.

Dace and the task force arrived to Onderon just in time to rescue their fellow Jedi who had become trapped in a citadel under fire from the supporters of the Freedon Nadd Uprising. Dace and the other Jedi battled against the Naddists as well as battle droids which were all under the influence of some Dark Sider. During the battle, Dace had to rely on all his Jedi training to push back the adversaries. Eventually the Jedi made progress and met Ulic Qel-Droma, Cay Qel-Droma, and Tott Doneeta coming from the citadel in the middle of the battlefield. Dace's and the other Jedi's arrival on Onderon shifted the balance of power, giving Dace and the Jedi an opportunity to launch an attack on the Dark Siders' base and their dark leader, King Ommin. They eventually made their way to confront King Ommin and end his Dark Side rule over the planet.

Months later, a coup was led by the Krath in the Koros System which was somehow related to the recently ended Freedon Nadd Uprising. Jedi Master Arca Jeth assembled the Jedi who helped in liberating Onderon during the Uprising; Dace Diath was one of them. Arca gave Dace and fellow Jedi, Qrrl Toq, Oss Wilum, and Shoaneb Culu the task of returning to Ossus to inform the Jedi Masters there of the recent events on Onderon. After finishing this task, Dace left with a command ship to travel to Koros Major, the last world of the Empress Teta System resisting the Krath's rule. There Dace and the fleet confronted the military might of the Krath, and Dace assisted in carving about fifty ships from their forces in what came to be known as the Battle of Koros Major.

After the battle, Dace traveled with the rest of the Jedi to Deneba and the convocation at Mount Meru. There the Jedi discussed the growing threats in the galaxy and their subsequent actions; the Krath had declared war on the Jedi, and a powerful Jedi apprentice was delving into dangerous knowledge of the Sith and their teachings. At the convocation, Dace testified as to what he saw at the Battle of Koros Major and of what he saw of the Krath. During the assembly, the Jedi were attacked by battle droids sent by the Krath intent on murdering all of them. Dace helped in meeting the attack and destroying as many battle droids as possible.
